Before I went to sleep on the plane, I changed my clock to Lisbon time. This way I could keep track of how much longer the flight was and to start getting myself accustomed to the time change. I then tried to sleep for a little bit on the plane, while it was still considered early morning in Lisbon. The flight attendants gave us a little sandwich that was about the size of my palm for breakfast. The flight wasn't too bad overall and before we knew it was time to land. It was a little nerve wracking stepping out of the airplane and seeing all of the information in Portuguese. Thankfully, most signs would have the English translation below it, so you could understand it.
Today we woke up and went downstairs to breakfast. It wasn't too bad, but I had to hurry because I needed to make sure everything was packed before we checked out. We didn't have to leave fo the airport until 7 pm, so we decided to spend the day in New York. Thankfully, the hotel let us store our bags in a locked storage area.
The first day of study abroad has finally arrived! It came sneaking up on me even though I knew it was right around the corner. I woke up super early around 3 in the morning to get ready to head to the airport. My first flight was from Albuquerque to Dallas, and it left at 6 am. I was running around the house making sure I had everything I needed. My family and I all got ready and we arrived at the airport at 4:30 to get me checked in. Afterwards, we made our way up to area right before security. We met up with Kitty and Kayla's families for the last minute well wishes and good bye pictures. |
