Today we woke up and went downstairs to breakfast. It wasn't too bad, but I had to hurry because I needed to make sure everything was packed before we checked out. We didn't have to leave fo the airport until 7 pm, so we decided to spend the day in New York. Thankfully, the hotel let us store our bags in a locked storage area. Our first stop was at a place called the Chelsea Market. It was an indoor market area that had tons of places to eat and little stores with knick knacks. We spent at least twenty minutes walking through a Japanese inspired store that was super colorful and a bookstore that had funny postcards, stuffed animals, and funny tattoos of vegetables. For food there was a taco stand, fresh seafood market, crepe place, different sandwich places, etc. Kayla and I decided to eat at a fresh noodle place and kitty went to a place that served tacos with a Japanese twist. Mine was a mild noodle soup that had beef slices, scallions, and bok choy. We also stopped for tiny donuts. Kitty got donuts with the ingredients lavendar, pistachio, and vanilla. She shared some our her donuts and they were really tasty. There were other unique flavors such as "The Spicy Rooster" which is made up of sriracha, maple, and lime. After we finished at Chelsea Market, we went to Central Park. We walked around for a little, but we were getting tired. So we found a nice bench near a small pond, and we all enjoyed sitting there and relaxing. Eventually, we got up and made our way back to the hotel to freshen up and grab our bags. Even though the airport was about 20 miles from where we were staying, it took the taxi an hour to get us to our terminal. Once we arrived at JFK, we had to wait at the check-in desk for a little bit because it was not open. However, when it opened it was a very fast process of telling them your information, showing your passport, and checking in your bag. We were at the gate very early, so I went and got some food from the cafeteria before we left. Before we knew it, we were lining up to get on the airplane. I sat on the aisle seat in the second section of the airplane because the first section was reserved for first class. Even though I was in the middle section, I was still able to look out the window and watch the lights of New York fade away. As soon as I was settled, I got comfy and tried to sleep some of the 7 hour flight ahead. |
